A good way to whittle down the risks of sunburn is to go out in the early hours of the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun is not high up in the sky. You can also wear opaque clothing which cut down the dangers of sun burns by 27 percent.

Any sunscreen you choose must contain zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These minerals work effectively by warding off harmful ultraviolet rays from the skin. Titanium dioxide is specifically recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology for children. The reason is because it is not a chemical sunscreen and is not held responsible for reactions or allergies. Zinc oxide might appear whitish on people with darker skin but it still offers ample protection.
